    Fondaparinux sodium is an antithrombotic anticoagulant and a Xa factor inhibitor. Sodium sulforaphane is chemically related to low molecular weight heparin. Its pentose structure corresponds to the antithrombin III (ATIII) binding site of heparin. The binding of sulfamethoxazole to this site can enhance the natural inhibitory effect of ATIII on factor Xa by about 300 times, thereby inhibiting the production of thrombin.
